Protest against putting Moldovan railways under Tiraspol's Control

Employees of the Moldovan railroad company CFM in Tighina (Bender) protested on August 16 against possible consequences of transfering CFM operations in Transnistria under Tiraspol's control. According to Valeriu Prudnicov, Moldovan police chief in Tighina, CFM employees urged Chisinau and Tiraspol to solve the railways conflict within three days, threatening to block the Camenca-Tiraspol highway, the main one in the secessionist republic of Transnistria. Tiraspol forced the subordination of the CFM operations in the breakaway enclave of Transnistria, as a response to what it called "economic sanctions" imposed by Chisinau on August 1.
