The Russian Route To The North Pole

For years, many travelers headed for the North Pole flew via Norway's Svalbard islands, to Barneo, a Russian ice camp with a colorful history. Norwegian restrictions have cut off that route for now, leaving Russia's Krasnoyarsk region the main route for polar travelers.
