Romanian PM Tăriceanu says Liberals support Justice Minister Macovei

Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu, leader of the National Liberal Party, said on February 12 his party does not support the simple motion against Justice Minister Monica Macovei tabled to the Senate Standing Committee by the Opposition. The motion, signed by Conservative, Social Democrat and Greater Romania Pary senators, calls for Macovei’s resignation on account of her alleged failure to bring about a “minimal reform of the Justice system”.

President Basescu and his followers in the Democratic Party support Monica Macovei. She also has the full support of many members of the European Commission, who have praised her efforts to reform the Justice system.
