Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, author of the latest UE report on Romania, has welcomed the recent guvernment reshuffle in Bucharest. Speaking during a news conference in the Romanian capital, Emma Nicholson said that the cabinet restructure was a direct consequence of the critical report elaborated by the Committe of foreign affaires of the European Parliament.
She mentioned on the same occasion the Parliament’s decision to ask the European Commission to reorientate Romania’s process of joining the UE in order to ensure the solving of key problems such as corruption, the justice system and the public administration. In this context, she called the report on Romania approved by EP a „cold shower“ apt to awaken the democratic and political consciousness.
