Günther Verheugen, EU Commissioner for Extension, has called on the Romanian authorities to fight corruption at higher levels than they have been doing until now. Speaking in the European Parliament, Verheugen said that the Romanian government should prosecute the „big fish“ and not only Jacks-in-office. He also asked the government to ensure a more convincing management of the UE funds.
