The European Commission approved on Wednesday a landmark strategy paper on how the European Union would deal with its new neighbours to the east and south. The EU Commissioners announced that the strategy paper would be accompanied by joint action plans, drawn up by the EU and the first wave of countries joining the so called New Neighbourhood Initiative. Israel, Jordan, Moldova, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia and Ukraine belong to this first wave of states.
