Jan Petersen: "school closures are in conflict with European standards on minority rights"

Concerned by the Transnistrian authorities' decisions to cose schools that teach in the Latin script, Jan Petersen, Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, urged the Tiraspol leadership to enable the mentionded schools to function normally.

“These actions are clearly in conflict with European standards on human rights and minority rights, and may furthermore adversely affect the ongoing negotiations between Tiraspol and Chisinau” - said Jan Petersen.
