Metropolitan Bishop Daniel of Moldavia and Bucovina elected Romania's Patriarch

Following Patriarch Teoctist's death at the end of July, the Holy Synod and the Church Electors' Board elected on September 12 Metropolitan Bishop Daniel of Moldavia and Bucovina the sixth Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church. In the last round of the election, Bishop Danierl defeted the much older Bishop Anania of Cluj. The new Patriarch's installation ceremony is set to take place in three weeks' time.
