30-odd journalists from the daily "Evenimentul zilei" resigned on 5 January to protest their Swiss publisher's supposed plans to redraw editorial policies and turn the daily into a tabloid.. The Ringier Group purchased "Evenimentul zilei" from the German magazine and newspaper publisher Gruner + Jahr in 2003.
