According to Reporters Without Borders, Moldova placed 85th out of 168 countries in the organization’s International Press Freedom Index. Georgia was the CIS country with the second-highest ranking, at 89th worldwide. Ukraine placed 105th, Russia 147th, Belarus 151st, and Uzbekistan 158th.
