Moldovan Parliament delays liberalization of electricity industry

The Moldovan parliament on July 13 passed a bill that will delay the liberalization of the electricity industry by eight years. The vote came almost two weeks after the date, July 1, on which the electricity market was due to be opened up. Industry and Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Antosii cited an incomplete metering system and a lack of infrastructure connecting Moldova to neighboring countries as key causes for delaying the liberalization.
