Russian FM Sergey Lavrov: South Ossetia's and Abhazia's independence creates no precedent for Transdniester

Addressing the Federal Council in Moscow on September 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that “Russia’s recognition of Abkhazia's and South Ossetia's independence does not set a precedent for Nagorno Karabakh and Transdniester”.

Lavrov added that Russia would carry out its mediating mission in the process of solving the frozen conflicts concerning both Nagorno Karabakh and Transdniester. "Each conflict", he said, "has its format of mediation. South Ossetia crisis does not set a precedent for these conflicts”.
