Bishop unmasked as Securitate collaborator

CNSAS, the instituion studying the communist political police Securitate's archive, ruled on September 14 that Andrei Andreicut, Bishop of Alba, had been a Securitate collaborator.

On the same day, CNSAS announced that the Securitate files of the newly elected Patriarch Daniel, had been burnt at the time of the Revolution. Bishop of Cluj Bartolomeu’s file will be analysed next week by a joint commission of Foreign Intelligence Service and CNSAS officials. Mircea Dinescu, a CNSAS member, said that the commission did not meet before the Patriarch's election lest it be accused of interfering in Church affairs.
