A group of protesters who opposed the organisation in Tiraspol of a seminar on human rights by the Helsinki Moldova Committee aggressed the committee’s chairman Stefan Uratu on Thursday.
After some protesters had thrown bags with curdled milk and eggs at Uratu, Transnistrian police intervened only to escort the Helsinki Moldova Committee chairman against his will out of Transnistria.
Stefan Uratu said that far from being spontaneous the incident was orchestrated by the Tiraspol separatist authorities. Stefan Uratu also noted that the Transnistrian police car which transported him out of the secessionist enclave crossed the joint border check point and mobile customs station without being stopped by Russian or Moldovan peacekeepers.
